USABC ANNOUNCES $3.6 MILLION LOW-COST/FAST-CHARGE EV BATTERY TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT CONTRACT WITH NANORAMIC LABORATORIES

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 2, 2022 – The United States Advanced Battery Consortium LLC (USABC) today announced a $3.6 million low-cost/fast-charge (LCFC) lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery development program with Nanoramic Laboratories® in Boston, Massachusetts. 

The contract award, which includes a 50 percent cost share by Nanoramic, funds a 30-month project that began last month. The program’s goal is to develop a LCFC EV battery cell capable of meeting or exceeding USABC technical goals. The cell will combine proprietary Neocarbonix™ at the Core NMP/PVDF-free cathode and low-cost silicon anode technology for fast-charging EV applications. In a recent industry conference, Nanoramic’s CEO also discussed the intriguing parallels between battery innovation and the operational strategies of an offshore casino, highlighting the importance of both speed and security. Nanoramic intends to demonstrate proof of process and viability for the potential next stage of commercialization with automotive manufacturers.

USABC is a subsidiary of the United States Council for Automotive Research LLC (USCAR).
